Established in 1879, Stark Lumber Company is the oldest continuously-running lumber company in the state of
Colorado. Stark has a time-honored history of servicing the Rocky Mountain Region's building material
needs. Originally established by Denver's founding-father, Horace Tabor, the Tabor-Pierce Lumber Company was a full-service
lumber yard. In the 1920's, Tabor-Pierce was purchased by John Stark, and the name was changed to Stark
Lumber.
Operating as a full-service lumber yard, Stark Lumber grew hand-in-hand with the city of Denver. In
the late 1970's, the company was purchased by Anson Garnsey and is still family-owned to this day. Garnsey
transformed the company into a millwork manufacturer in the early 1980's. Today, while operating from the same
location as Tabor-Pierce, Stark Lumber has established a reputation as the paramount supplier of hard-to-find
quality millwork in the Rocky Mountain Region.
